CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA-- Apple just announced the launch of their new watch, the Apple Watch Series X, which is their first eco-friendly watch made of 100% recycled materials. This watch comes equipped with advanced new health features, such as advanced sleep tracking, a blood pressure stress monitor, and solar charging. In just 24 hours, over 900,000 Series X watches have been pre ordered since its release this morning on Apple.com.

This release was the first from Apple’s iLoveEarth initiative, an environmental campaign launched in 2024 aimed to lower waste and gas emissions from Apple Facilities. After the integration of Apple Intelligence in all devices released in 2024 and after, emissions from Apple’s AI Data Facilities drastically increased by 61%. iLoveEarth aims to reduce waste back to the levels they were at prior to the introduction of Apple Intelligence.

“Apple Intelligence was meant to make the user experience more personal, catered to your exact habits and needs, not to hurt the environment. We aim to create more carbon neutral products and continue reducing our carbon footprint,” said Tim Cook, Apple CEO.

In the Series X Keynote, Cook and Craig Federighi--Senior VP of Software Engineering-- touch on the health advancements added to the watch. “The Apple Watch Series 9 found a lot of success in helping users fix unhealthy sleeping habits and treat sleep apnea among other conditions,” said Federighi. “With the Series X, we aim to help users discover and treat any underlying conditions that an annual doctor’s visit won’t be able to catch.” Over 45% of Apple Watch Series 9 users identified signs of sleep apnea by using their Apple Watch. The Apple Watch Series X aims to continue helping users manage their health while pushing iLoveEarth’s mission in reducing toxic emissions.
